online productivity/My first Zoho document
This looks like a cool writing program. I like the emoticons, they give the page a more personal touch. People who enjoy writing would probably also like the Zoho Writer program.

Is this really the end? or just the beginning
The iHCPL program has been an interesting experience. I enjoyed learning to use flickr and the photo editing programs it was linked to. The social bookmarking exercises were O. K. but, not my favorite. With the wikis it wasn't hard, I'm just not into wiki editing. The youtube exercise would have been better if it weren't a filtered site. I do understand why it would be filtered though. I did learn quite a bit about bloggs and blogging. I also found learning about RSS feeds to be interesting. I do believe that people who are familiar with computers to begin with will get more out of this program than people who don't spend much time on them. I think that there are a lot of great concepts in the library 2.0 program. I think that the more user friendly a system becomes the more likely people are to use it. We are in an age of information. The computer and internet are a huge part of that. Everyone has there own comfort level with technology and I believe that there will always be a place for libraries both on line and in person.

Downloadable Media
There were a few titles in the HCPL digital collection that I found interesting. I did notice that the "free" sites had both a different format and selection from HCPL's e-branch. It would mostly depend what a person is looking for and what they are accustomed to using on which site would meet that person's needs.
Podcasts, Smodcasts
I found and interesting podcast feed called "Library Geeks" and subscribed to it on my bloglines account. I found it using Podcastalley.com and serching under library news. Here links for Podcastalley. com http://podcastalley.com/ and the "Library Geeks" feed http://podcastalley.com/podcast_details.php?pod_id=36582 for your enjoyment.
Discover YouTube and other vidio sharing sites
I have found that doing a YouTube based exercise is difficult to preform from a work computer. My work station filters out YouTube so I will have a limited experience with the site for this part of the iHCPL training program. I think that the site itself is an interesting one, I found a video of kangaroos and emus. I thought that was pretty cool. My grandparents on my Dad's side used to raise emus and other exotic birds. Social Networking
The social networking site I choose was Yahoo!360. I like it because I already have a Yahoo account, and it can be readily accessed from any computer. It also has a friendly format. It even has my Avatar from my existing Yahoo account! I do think that social networking should not replace live social interaction, but suppliment it. Combining the two skills should help improve communication both at home and the work place.

Technology
Most of the time computers and the internet are great. There are times however, when they can be frustrating. I like being able to access information over the internet from my PC. It's just when the system can't find the page I want because of heavy use or no longer existing that it can get annoying. There are some very good sites out on the net, some of which I discovered while doing the iHCPL training exercises on blogspot.

Wikis
Logging in to the iHCPL wiki was relatively simple. It was also quite easy to add my blog url to the favorites list on that wiki. I think that wikis are good for entertainment purposes. I believe people who do a lot of blogging will also be more inclined to use wikis than someone who is unfamiliar with computers. I also believe that computers, wikis, and blogging will increase as technology advances.

Library 2.0
I believe that libraries are not just about books any more. I've noticed that patrons often check out movies, audio books, and even game packs for "Leap Pad," and many of the patrons come in just to use a computer. So I believe more user friendly software will be welcomed by most patrons. I feel that Library 2.0 is aiming for this objective and I think that adapting to an ever more electronicly focased world is a good idea. I also believe that there will always be those people who will want access to hard copy fiction and nonfiction books. I think the challange will be integrateing those needs at a pace that closely matches the advancements in technology without overwhelming those who are unfamilliar with these changes.

Technorati
I found that when I used the search term "Learning 2.0" in the advanced search my results were somewhat different for Blog Posts, tags, and the Blog Directory. While on the Technorati site I discovered a blog saying that there is supposed to be a special winter glove for people who want to use their iPod or other electronic device outside in the cold winter weather. The product is priced at $30.00. I think that a person would be better off using their electronic devices inside where they can be warm and save themselves thirty dollars. I was surprised such a product would exist, but after a moment's consideration, I feel it isn't that surprising. After all, if on person can come up with an idea, another person will find a way to make money off of it.

Del.icio.us
I think that some of the sites that can be found through this social bookmarking system are interesting. However, I believe it is geared primarily towards home use. While the site is accessible from any computer, it seems to require browser modifications that can be applied to a home PC but not necessarily a work or public PC.

Library Elf
I think that Library Elf is an O.K. site, but seems to be of more use to someone who has to keep track of multiple accounts. For example, a parent with children who each have their own cards. Someone who has accounts with multiple Library systems, such as city, county, and school Libraries.

Library Thing
Library Thing is an interesting site. Once I learned to navigate around the site it was easy to use. I even managed to get five books into my catalog. I like the simple sign up for the site.

October
The calendar making program in fd's Flikr Toys was easy to use. If some one wanted to, they could use the site to make their own personalized calendar for the entire year. Here is the link to fd's Flikr Toys http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/ and the calendar making http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/calendar.php# for the ihcpl lesson on image generators.

Feeds using Bloglines
I joined Bloglines for the ihcpl program. I haven't figured out how to post the feeds from Bloglines to Blogspot yet. Bloglines does have a lot of feed categories to choose from. Some of the stories are quite interesting. http://us.rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/rss/topstories/*http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071006/ap_on_fe_st/odd_unstuck_skunk is a link to one of the stories I recieved as a feed in my Bloglines account. It's about a skunk that had its head stuck in a jar. I discovered that YouTube is a filtered site and can't be joined from a library computer.

Jack 'o lantern
I used Picnik to edit this photo. It was a lot of fun. The time it took to sign up was worth it. This is for the ihcpl training program.
Spell with flickr: Halloween
Spell with flickr: Halloween: "On Flickr "
The letters of "Halloween" look different each time you look at it on the "Spell with flickr" site. If you click on the letters they change too.

Nice Couch
I have a new camera and I was giving it a try around my apartment. Now I can post pictures that I can add ihcpl as a tag. This is my first one.

kurdistan Pêşeng
I haven't figured out how to tag a picture for the ihcpl program yet, but these mountains remind me of my old home.

A little bit like e-mail
Posting a blog reminds me of sending e-mail. It's much simpler than I thought it would be. I think it's pretty cool!
